This issue is for the tomato gardener. Tomatoes are the #1 gardening plant because they are easy to grow and you simply can not purchase the home-grown flavor in any store. I start the transplants from seed and we have several varieties to choose from. I'm always looking for new varieties, if you have a favorite, let me know. Sincerely,
Sherry Robinson

Tomato Varieties
Early Champion Bush - this is the earliest variety we have available. It produces in 65 days with the largest fruits on an early variety. It's also going to perform
wonderfully in pots and small space gardens.
Heirloom Cherokee Purple - we are offering 2 heirloom varieties (Rutgers is the other one) because YOU asked us too! We try to keep a record of what customers are requesting. This offering will produce very large, 10-12 oz, purplish colored fruits. The higher acidity will explode in flavor.
My personal favorites are Margo, a 2010 top producer, and Carnival,( only back for 2011 & 2012 due to seed
availability). I have had fantastic comments from everyone who tried Margo last year, it's going back into my garden this year. Carnival was my long standing favorite until seed availability became a problem for us. It produces wonderfully large tomatoes that do not crack. I suggest planting and enjoying it but trying a new variety, like Margo so you'll have a good option when Carnival is no longer available.
The best new Cherry-type tomato is Tomatoberry. These delious strawberry-shaped fruits are best when fully ripened. This is the 3rd year growing this variety and people love the flavor.

Fertilome Triple Action
The #1 Product for Tomatoes. Insecticide, Miticide, & Fungicide. Spider mites can "explode" on your plants when the humidity levels climb. The plant will look "whitish" when the population is large. Regular insecticides will not kill spidermites and applications of Sevin will actually increase mite populations. The fungus that looks like the plant is drying from the bottom-up is an air-borne disease. It also explodes during high humidity weather patterns. . Once the disease is started in the plant you can only control, not kill the problem. Start using Triple Action when the weather pattern is favorable to these problems. The product can be used up until the day of harvest. |
